Default Deer processing and Taxidermist in Lancaster Co.

Hey guys, looking to get my first buck processed in Lancaster. Do you guys have any suggestions? I have processed two in the past myself and I dont think I am going to be able to take the time to get this big guy apart. Also would like to get some summer sausage, snack sticks, or jerky done.

Also need to find somebody to clean the meat off the skull for a european/skull mount? Do you guys know of any reasonable places in the Lancaster area. Last year I paid $60 out near Butler so I am not looking to pay too much more.

Thank you. I gave them a call and apparently they have a refrigerated trailer you can leave the deer in as long as it is tagged and has a phone number with it. Considering my deer has already been hanging a few days I am a little iffy on that. I will wait until the morning to talk to an actual person to see if they are okay with how long the deer has been hanging.

My only word of caution is that it is a big operation. Almost too big, I am some times curious if my deer or the "right amount of meat" is processed and put in my box.... I have been happy with what I get since there aren't many places I know of local to Lancaster...... I personally am going to try to butcher my own this year.

Edit- my capes have been great though...

Thanks for the heads up! I have taken a few deer to big operations in the past and havent been very happy with the quality of the cuts or the amount. I did both of my doe in my garage this year and I was absolutely shocked how much meat I got out of them. I am just thinking this big buck might be a little too much for me to handle myself.

Thanks again I will most likely be using the taxidermist that you mentioned.

Smuckers - amish shop out off of Rt 30 past the outlets.

For taxidermy, go with Barry Shertzer as mentioned before. He did my mount as well.

Just got a quote from Barry Shertzer for $110 for just the skull cleaning. That sounds quite a bit higher than the going rate. Am I missing something? Is there something that would justify the higher price?
