Re: Used PAFOA advice from another thread on my grip
Glock 19 and as fast as I could get the sights back on target.
Probably one shot every two seconds or so
On my next trip out I'll reach 200 rounds down range, lifetime.
Maybe after 2000 more my shots will be faster lol

Re: Used PAFOA advice from another thread on my grip
yeager484,
Don't worry about fast, worry about accuracy, speed will come with the practice but being able to shoot fast doesn't do you any good if you can't hit what you are aiming at.
When you are in a gun battle, there are a lot of factors that will affect your shooting, adreniline, tunnel vision, etc. You want to be able to place your shots in the right area not just get a lot of rounds off.
When I first started shooting in competitions that were timed, I frankly sucked. However, I had a lot of seasoned shooters that were glad to help me. The one mantra that is true no matter what is "slow is smooth, smooth is fast". What this means is that you start out slow, making sure your draw, aim, trigger pull, etc. is smooth. This gets you good shot placement and muscle memory. As you progress (concentrating on the smooth) your speed will increase.
One phase of one competition was shooting 12 rounds at a target at 7 yards away in 20 seconds with a revolver. This means that you have to do a speed reload. When I first started, I could not finish in time. With the practice of slow is smooth, smooth is fast, I got to the point that 20 seconds was more than enough time to put them in the 10/X ring. See my avatar, that was done (in less than 20 seconds) after a 1 year lay off from competing.
Just remember, being smooth will help you become a fast accurate shooter.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

I'm a fan of the mantra "drive fast and take chances" but I'm not yet sure how that pertains to firearms lol,
