Ned a new hobby! Tactical/Practical shooting?
I'm interested in starting up a new hobby in the tactical/practical shooting relm. I have experience with pistol shooting and I am act 235 certified. I have lost interested in my current hobby and want to try something new. I enjoy shooting real steel, but have not lately and lost interest because it became boring. I want to take it to a new level, where I can enjoy shooting..while learning practical skills at the same time.
My plan is to purchase and AR-15 variant rifle. I already own a SIG P220 and a few magazines for it. I'd like to start doing more then standing at a firing line and shooting at a single paper target. I'm interested in moving and shooting drills, weak to strong transitions, weapon transitions, etc. I have a couple of friends interested in this, but I need a place to do it and somewhere to start. Any help would be much appreciated. I am located in the lewistown area and can travel harrisburg state college area. Thanks.

Search for an IDPA, USPSA, or any action pistol club in your area. Good luck...jkm

Lewistown has a great club that is active in IDPA. They just hosted a big match last month.

Lewistown pistol club shoots IDPA all the time, that should be pretty close to you.

Unfortunately, our IDPA season is over. Hollidaysburg is also done for the year, I believe. New Holland may have an IDPA match this Sunday. There aren't many clubs in the state that run IDPA through the winter months.
Assuming no damage to the club from this week's storm, (I hope to get up there tomorrow to check) we will have a Ruger Rimfire match at Lewistown this Sunday. It's all steel, and you need a .22 rifle, a .22 pistol and I'd bring at least 200 rounds of ammo. No movement or transitions from gun to gun though. Check our club website for a run down on the various divisions.
