Default Advice on Shot shell reloading purchase

    Hi,

I have the chance to purchase this from a classified add for $75. Advertised as a 20 ga shotshell reloader.

I have been thinking about breaking into reloading for a couple of years. Shotshell reloading is something I would like to get into, if this is a deal, this might be the time.

Can anyone tell anything from the picture? What kind of questions should I be asking the buyer? It seems maybe too risky for me, even if it is a "Deal" I would not really know if the thing was 100% working if I went to look at it, I don't know what I am doing yet. I've read ABC's of reloading, and helped a friend reload some 44mags once on a single stage press, that is my extent of my experience.

That is a MEC 20ga reloader for shotgun shells. It is missing both the shot and powder bottles. Those machine very seldom have any problems. If it isn't all rusty it should be fine. The good part is MEC is still in business and they stock parts for most of their reloaders. I would offer the person $50.00 for it and if he doesn't go for it, then pay the $75.00. In addition to the reloader get a good book on shotshell reloading, Lyman has a very good book. I hope this helps.

Thanks. I may throw $50 at him and see what happens. After some soul searching, I don't think I have the time or money to start reloading now, but I may still hedge against future activities by picking up a $50 press.
