Directed to show my ltcf at state game land range
I had stopped at the pa state and game shooting range on rt 93
I saw a warden across on the the hunting side parking .
Anyhoo.
I came about 430 530 pm ..
About 15 mins passed and I see a red pickup unmarked speeding in ,I thought nothing about it since they left rather quickly ...
2 wardens in one truck and 2 other units ,including the red pickup that sped in here couple seconds ago.
I had my 15 year old brother with me ,
I see 5 wardens walking towards me ,I tell my brother they just want to confirm I'm following the rules ...
They state their name and rank/title and ask for my permit ,
me: okay
warden:may I see your driver license ?
Me: why are you asking me for my license when I just showed you my permit to legally permitting me to be here ?
Warden:you have a new car that has temp plate for nj .
Me:car was just bought yesterday ,and I'm a pa resident .my license is in my car.
(As I was getting my DL for the warden )
Warden:thank you.
do you have a license to carry concealed (he saw my iwb holster with my xds)
I kindly gave him my ltcf .
Warden: did you take your hunting class ?
Me:yes I have ...
Warden:where ?
Me: nj
Warden: you hunt in nj ,when did you take your class ?
Me: is there a reason why you need 4 units here for one person shooting at a range ?
You have asked me for 3 legal documents in less than 2 mins and I've been more than cooperative with you ,when 1 1/2 year ago why ?
Your taking my daylight away from me ,and my range time ?
All my documents are valid .
They think.............
They give me back my all three of my documents ..
One of the wardens while walking away stated (thought we had something)
Rest was muffled .
Do I have to show my dl and ltcf when I'm cc'ing on state land .
Just seems they were looking for something anything ,looking for something that was not really there and ready for something .they were very hyper if you know what I'm saying ..
I told them i Wish they were like this on weekdays when people wave guns around and don't pick up there crap ,not following the rules of the range .
They didn't check my car and they didn't disarm me .
Figured I'd share my thoughts .
Thanks for listening .Last edited by Her9852; October 14th, 2012 at 12:21 AM.

Probably thought they 'had' you on not having a Shooting Range Permit/Pennsylvania Hunting or Trapping License based on seeing the temporary New Jersey tags. They thought you were a clueless Jerseyan. Boy, were they wrong.

Re: Directed to show my ltcf at state game land range
You don't need an LTCF to carry concealed at a target range:
18 Pa.C.S.A. § 6106
. . .
(b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to:
(1) . . .
(2) . . .
(3). . .
(4) Any persons engaged in target shooting with a firearm, if such persons are at or are going to or from their places of assembly or target practice and if, while going to or from their places of assembly or target practice, the firearm is not loaded.
At the range, it can be concealed and loaded. On the trip there and back, it has to be unloaded.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Re: Directed to show my ltcf at state game land range
The question is, did you have a PA hunting or fishing license with you or did you have a PA Range Permit? If not they could have given you a ticket. Did you have more than 6 rounds in the pistol mag? If yes, you were in violation of the range rules.

Re: Directed to show my ltcf at state game land range
The OP states at the very beginning of his encounter that he had a permit. That's the first thing the GCO asked for. He could also have a 50 round mag in his carry weapon and it breaks no laws. The Range rules are for weapons you are shooting, not your carry weapon.
§ 2525. Possession of firearm for protection of self or others.
(a) General rule.--It is lawful for a law enforcement officer
or any person who possesses a valid license to carry a firearm
issued under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6109 (relating to licenses) to be in
possession of a loaded or unloaded firearm while engaged in any
activity regulated by this title.
(b) Construction.--
(1) This section shall supersede any prohibition on the
possession of a firearm or ammunition contained in any other
provision of this title.
(2) This subsection shall not be construed to permit the
hunting or harvesting of any wildlife with a firearm or
ammunition not otherwise permitted by this title.
(c) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
subsection:
"Firearm." As defined in 18 Pa.C.S. § 6102 (relating to
definitions).
"Law enforcement officer." As defined in 18 Pa.C.S. § 6102
(relating to definitions).
