Just wondering How Often

How often do you change either ammo or magazines in your carry.

I like to change mine at least once a month, both ammo and magazine.

Heard a long time ago that springs can weaken due to the constant pressure of being compressed over extended periods of time.

I swap ammo every couple months.

My understanding is that the springs don't weaken from the constant pressure. They weaken when they are allowed to flex. Actually using them is what weakens them.

I inspect my ammo and mags about once a month. I change out ammo if there is any appearance of any problem, or after a range trip and they are shot off. I have mags that have been loaded for the best part of 30 years, and they work fine. I should state that these are good quality mags. When you inspect the ammo, look and feel the ammo, check for any deformity if it's been chambered, they can get nicks and dings from this.

Springs do not weaken under pressure, they weaken only through constant cycling.

Once a month if for no other reason than to rotate your ammo and wipe off any dirt that might have accumulated.

my carry piece is my preferred for target shooting, so they get cycled pretty fast. weekly range trips when possible

I use separate defense ammo mags from the mags I use at the range.
I generally unpack and restack my defense mags once a month, and replace the rounds once a year. Yes, once a year - because I don't lube my mags or marinate my gun in oil. I have never had a failure to fire with any defense ammo after a year (and one batch even after 2 years) of carry.

I've got a Bersa I used to carry daily. I think its a good example of why you should practice with the ammo you'll be carrying. Unlike my 9mm I carry now, the Bersa really shoots like a different gun when I use the Corbons as opposed to target loads.
Though I'm sure theres a lot of people who practice most of the time with the ammo they carry, I can't afford to do that. However, I do go through a box of my carry ammo every couple of months. It's definately worth it.

I usually freshen up my 642 with new ammo every 6 months or so.
My bottom feeders about the same.

I like to end some of my range sessions with shooting up some carry ammo. There is a big difference between range ammo and carry ammo.
