    Default Certifiably Re-Certified...

Mrs. Chaz decided she wanted to start hunting with me a few weeks ago. Being that she works A LOT I signed her up for the online course. After a few hours of going through things, and quizzing her while driving to/from work and such, it was test day. I also signed up for the course because I wasn't going to just sit there and do nothing for two hours, figured I might as well get something out of it!

We both passed. I got 100% and she missed 4 out of the 60 questions. One of those, she circled the wrong answer, thought she circled B but circled C instead. One she missed was really tricky about bow hunting safety, she said Never dry fire a bow nd the answer was use only carbon arrows. She'll never bow hunt, so she was OK with that... lol

Now we just have to get her a hunting license. Might be an excuse to buy a new gun! Only legal guns I have for her to deer hunt with is the 12 gauge and my 30.06, and she isn't used to the recoil of the 12 gauge yet, I can't imagine what she's going to do when she shoots my 760... lol

I'd look to a 25-06, or if you want to stay more streamlined a .243, 7mm, or .308.

My 25-06 and 30-30 have been knocking em dead for years :-)

Well, she was fine with a 20 gauge and birdshot, so I'm thinking she could handle a 30/30 pretty good... Might get her a single shot NEF rifle...

A 30-30 or a .243 would both be great options. I just bought my girlfriend a R700 BDL .243, mounted it with a Leupold, and having her sling some 100gr pills down range. She enjoys it and will shoot all day.

She refers to it as the 'Baby Gun' because it sits next to a .338 Lapua, my Sendero SFII 7mmRM, and an array of varmint and deer rifles ranging from .22-250 back up to 7mm. (It is almost looks like one of my rimfires when it is next to all the other centerfires. Hah)
