Savage/Bolt does not fully lockdown ?
I bought from an estate sale a Savage model 11 308 when I chamber a round the bullet appears all the way into chamber,as I close/lock down bolt it only goes 75% down staying out of full lock up/ Anyone have any Idea why ? is barrel mis-marked caliber ? Could be ammo from another country ? Replys are welcomed with ideas.TY

Re: Savage/Bolt does not fully lockdown ?
The bolt does close on an empty chamber correct?
Is the ejector and extractor free? If not, the round is going to not seat into the bolt face.
Someone may have swapped bolts, does the .308 round even sit in the bolt face correctly?
Someone may have had the original barrel re-chambered into another caliber.
Some short mag caliber maybe?
Sounds like a chamber casting is in order if the bolt is correct and functioning.

Could it possibly be a simpler solution? A broken casing stuck in the chamber?

Re: Savage/Bolt does not fully lockdown ?
Savages use a barrel nut, so pretty much anybody can install a barrel and set the headspace on one. It's possible that somebody set the headspace too short.
