    No... I was under the impression that, unless you did it constantly, a little dry-fire of an AK-47 - as it is not rimfire - would not really hurt it.

    Excessive dry fire is not recommended. But two three times not gonna brake it either.

    If you don't have a snap cap, use an empty case. Cock the hammer back manually with your fingers by leaving the dust cover off. That way you can fire without having to cycle the bolt back and forth thus ejecting the spent case every time.

    You're thinking about it too much. Don't expect the shot. Every time that hammer falls, it should be a surprise whether or not you have a live round in the chamber or a snap cap. When you blink or flinch, that tells me that you're focusing too much on the actual trigger-pull action.
