Form 1 Question: SBR
Hey guys .. looking for some advice/info
Was trying to finish off my form 1s last night and have a question or two:
a) OAL is measured with stock open or closed? I have read conflicting reports on various websites and would like the experts here to chime in.
b) Should I just go ahead and put 5.56 under the caliber section and write a letter if I decide to change uppers in the future? Or will "multi" still pass?
c) Is it acceptable to go ahead and fill in the Sheriff's address and telephone number under the Law Enforcement Certification section to save him some time? Just being courteous but not sure if it's out of line at all.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Form 1 Question: SBR
Stock OPEN
just put 5.56
only counts if the caliber change is PERMANENT.

Re: Form 1 Question: SBR
Yeah - good point. It's a 2 minute fix even if they had a problem with it. Form 1 takes a grand total of 120 seconds once you know what is expected.
I only filled in the area where it has my name since my last name is tricky sometimes. I'll let them handle the rest.
It's kind of funny - they want measurements of something that you can't measure (legally) if you have no reference.

Re: Form 1 Question: SBR
Put in the calibers you might decide to switch to down the road. 5.56,9mm,7.62X39 Ect. Perfectly Legal to do so. Since you are Registering the Lower Receiver as the SBR and Not the barrel.

Yes it is legal to do so, but some Form 1s are being kicked back for having multiple calibers listed. You can change the calibers (or barrel length) when ever you feel like it, but if you change the caliber (barrel length) permanently you will have to notify the ATF in writing of that change.

Re: Form 1 Question: SBR
The only 3 ways a Form 1 will get returned is:
1. No Certificate of Compliance
2. Your Check Bounces
3. You Screwed Up The Application In Filling It Out
Where do some of these Myths come from?
For that matter you can and I have done fill in with: All Caliber Conversions For A 5.56 AR Lower.John McCaw
