New MKIII and Jamming
Last weekend I bought a new Ruger MKIII target model after reading so much about how happy everyone is with their Rugers. I was excited to try it out and left work early today to go do some shooting. I was greatly disappointed. The accuracy is great...better than I am capable of I am sure but it jammed at least once per magazine, sometimes twice and one time it jammed 3 times. It came with 2 mags so I switched out and it made no difference which one I used.
The spent shell would wind up almost stove piped with the new round partially inserted into the chamber so it seems that it's not clearing. Nothing I did would make a difference with it. I had some old CCI Blazer round nose that I tried and I had some Federal bulk ammo. Both of them had the same results. I really am not looking forward to having this gun needing to be worked on already but at the same time, this is completely unacceptable.
Is this normal? Will it clear up after some use? has anyone experienced this with a MKIII? Any ideas?
Thanks

It may just because its new and "tight" did you take it apart and lube everything before you started shooting it? How many rounds have you fired?

the mkIII's are junk imo, the mkII's are great but somewhere along the line they messed up on the III's. send it back and they will fix it like the thousands of others they've needed to fix.

Re: New MKIII and Jamming
Well...no, I didn't take it apart first and I also (wrongly I guess) assumed the film of oil already on the gun was enough.
I put about 150 rounds through it give or take.
Tonight I took it apart and yeah...what I've read about taking it apart and how difficult it is...no kidding! LOL....I guess after a few times it will be simple.
Anyway, I took it apart, cleaned and oiled everything and tomorrow I'll try it again...hopefully it will work better this time around.
Thanks for all the help.

Give it about 500 rounds before you make a judgment on it.

Yeah, I'm not ready to give up on it yet. It's great other than that so if I can eliminate the jamming, I think I'll be happy with it. I was told to run a few hundred Hi-Velocity rounds through it to "break it in" so I will try that too...can't hurt.

Re: New MKIII and Jamming
I've got thousands of rounds through mine. It'll shoot anything I feed it. I have found though that the Remington bulk packs give me more misfires than any other brand.

.22's are notoriously ammo sensitive and mags can make a HUGE difference.
Experiment and get back to us.
