Have seen pics of it, but making a poly 1911 is like putting a fur coat on a polar bear, it just isn't needed. If I want a light 1911, I'll get an aluminum frame one.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Saw the announcements months ago -- haven't seen the actual pistol yet. I guess my question would have to be, "Why?" They aren't the first -- STI/SVI makes polymer-framed 1911s, BUL Transmark makes them, Wilson Combat has (or had) one. They haven't exactly set the world on fire. STIs sell probably more in spite of the polymer frame than because of it -- they are one of only a couple of high capacity 1911 makers.

I don't see the point. And, based on prior experience with Rock River, there's no way I'd buy a pistol from them anyway, so it's a moot point for me.

rock rivers "real" 1911's of the past were amazing, i honestly cant figure out why they quit building them. they say they ceased production to focus on their ar's. when they finally hit the shelves ill prolly get one just because i always wanted a rra 1911 but waited too long and people that have them generally dont want to part with them and a poly 1911 to me has a certain "cool, thats different" factor and if its anywhere near the 1911's they put out in the past its going to be a shooter.

Kimber tried it too a few years back. Never worked out for them. No real demand for them. Typically people buy 1911s because they want a bigger, heavier gun.

The handgun market is changing though, so who knows?

That pick looks like a single stack....weren't Bul's double stacks? Kimber tried on the Bul.....and I think Wilson may have as well. I don't think any of them had stellar results across the board.

    Now...if RRA would bring out a 2011 knockoff.....BAM!

I've never heard someone say they bought a 1911 because it's big and heavy. More likely that they wanted a classic 1911...

Which also just happens to be big and heavy...

I saw this months ago as well. They are supposed to be around $800 but still haven't seen any for sale yet. I think Guns and Ammo did a review for their 1911 magizine edition. I would just like to shoot one.
