Re: Carrying with one in the chamber is Unsafe
Had a friends brand spanky Glock 20, with a brand spanky factory magazine, and I was showing him how you can drop the slide just by ramming the magazine home right on a reload. On the third try, a 10mm round came flying out the top of the open ejection port. We decided to stop trying.

Re: Carrying with one in the chamber is Unsafe
My opinion here is just another fart in the breeze so to speak, but I'll throw it out anyway.
When I first got my LTCF and started carrying concealed with an IWB holster, I had some anxiety about carrying with one in the chamber. I got over this anxiety by doing a dry run where I would carry the gun empty and deliberately see if I could get it to dry fire in the holster. I twisted, turned, pressed against objects, etc. The trigger never moved. In a way, my clothing acted like another buffer zone against outside forces.
My little exercise combined with a proper gunsmith inspection pretty much calmed my fears.

Nah, you can use a bear's K9 to rack the slide on, as long as your head and arm aren't in his mouth at the same time.
Old post with some good reads. I'm indifferent on one in the pipe on the street. I do it but don't fret if someone doesn't. To each his own, I suppose, and it would probably take a special situation to not be able to rack the slide on the street should you have to pull. I can think of a bunch of situations where I already want one ready to go at the flip of a switch. In the woods, it's full heat, no matter what, as soon as I shut my truck door.BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
