I imagine that would be my general direction. As much as the douchebag, power mad, ignorant, manhood compensating 2.5 rent-a-cop might deserve a lesson in manners he probably doesn't deserve to be shot. And even if he does, I don't want to be the one in court explaining how it happened with my gun.

Agreed. I can't see that resisting and potentially escalating the situation is of any benefit. You may have the right, but is it worth a potentially deadly encounter? Calmly protest verbally, do not escalate, then file charges.

What if store security needed to detain a shoplifter here in Pa and the shoplifter got combatant? I think the guard could detain by handcuffing the shoplifter.

Now what if the perp was also carrying a firearm?

I think under that scenario the guard would be justified to disarm.

    What do you think GL?

Even assuming the "suspect" actually did shoplift, any security agent with half a brain might ponder if their willing to potentially trade their health (or life) for the value of the merchandise in question before attempting to "disarm" someone.

Thats why its taking me so long to answer my own question.

Its an awful situation to be in. If there is only one cop, then i can see defending yourself. Other than that, your sol.

Could someone be held responsible if a security guard did remove their firearm and it dischargeg or he did something dumb with it?

I would refuse to allow security to take my firearm and start heading to the door while telling them I was leaving. If he grabbed me and tried to take it then I am not sure what I would do

My biggest fear would be, since I carry condition one, catching an ND from the idiot dicking around with my pistol.

Thanks. I knew this scenario sounded familiar.
