Default I think I know the answer but....

Of course I would like to replace my Colt 1911 that I fooloshly traded away with a new 1911. I am a fan of Rugers so of course I would like to get the SR1911. Now Remington has has the R1 out and it looks interesting to me. For the money I am thinking Ruger all the way. Between the two how would you choose?

I have the Ruger on layaway. I didn't do a ton of research, but I think you will need to pay over $1K for another brand to get the features of the Ruger.

I think you are 100% correct on that. Im just wondering if the Remington even comes close for the money.

I Love Ruger and have the SR1911. I like the Novak sight which come with the Ruger, nice finish, grips and customer service should anything go wrong. I think these are two great VALUE 1911's, both made in the USA. If you can land the Ruger for 699 or less that would be my choice...it's a beautiful piece. Haven't heard a bad thing about the R1

They are similar priced, aren't they? Assuming they are, I think between the features and looks, the Ruger is the way to go. I too, have not heard anything bad about the Remington. It's just a little more plain IMO.

I am defenitaly going to with the Ruger. The only thing bad I have heard about the R1 and think it was posted here was the finish is a bit light meaning it wears pretty fast.

They had been in low demand. I was able to take advantage of the gunstore getting a double shipment from their distributor. They surely are not having any trouble getting rid of them.

I was gonna go with a Ruger, but after a long wait, I pulled the trigger on a RIA 1911 45 Tactical.
