Re: Federal LE Tactical HST vs. Hydra-Shok
All this ammo talk and nice sunny day outside is making me want to shoot!
But I'm stuck at work
But back on topic I use the 124gr Tac. hydrashock ammo it has 200+fps more than the 147gr.

Re: Federal LE Tactical HST vs. Hydra-Shok
You do realize that even a simple Google search shows the same information that you posted being given out and repeated thousands of times, right? I mean, the acronym fits and nearly everyone else has been saying that very same thing for years, one can hardly fault anyone for believing it to be true, especially since Federal doesn't have anything online to really dispel the misconception.
The only reason I know is because, some time back, someone else corrected me in the same manner that I corrected you. So welcome to the club, we don't have any secret handshakes or anything, but as of now we're a pretty selective group. We also don't allow the banging of one's head against the wall, we ask that you politely bang the heads of mistaken salespersons against the wall and correct them instead.

Re: Federal LE Tactical HST vs. Hydra-Shok
If your gun can feed them, the HST is a better bullet.
They are Federals version of the Ranger T or PDX1 bullet. HST's have long serrations that peel back like a bannana peel and expand to a nice star shape with large, sharp petals. I would definitely not want to get shot with one of these !
They are one of the better bullet designs on the market aand many LEA's have adopted their use. The 9mm +P 147 gr has become very popular in this cartridge and performs better than any other 9mm round including 115 gr P+P and 124 gr +P.
In 45 ACP they have 230 and 230 +P. The 230 gr has 405 ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle.
That doesn't seem like much for a 45 round but combined with the design and weight these are quite potent and deadly from what I have read on real life performance, often dropping an assailant with one shot !You Can Take My Gun When You Pry it From My Dead, Cold, Hand !
