Is S&W missing out
I am somewhat new to firearms so I am not sure how common this is...I have been trying to get a Shield for a while now with no luck. It seems they are sold out everywhere. My LGS is a big distributer and they are still only getting 1 or 2 a month.
I understand the S&W has limited production capacity but I am wondering if they are miss out here. The other M&P pistol are still easily available. I know sometimes companies do a small run at first to create the hype but I have been trying to get one for 5 months now.

Re: Is S&W missing out
Supply & demand. We called around to a few places and no one has them in.
Gun manufacturers just can't keep up.
We also had a tough time finding magazines for M&P handguns (not shields). Stores aren't getting them in, most places on the internet have them on backorder. (finally found them online late last week.) Someone suggested to us that Smith & Wesson isn't sending as many mags to the stores because S&W needs them (they package 2 mags with every handgun they sell).

Wanna know who's really missing out? The folks at Glock who have no single stack 9mm to offer anyone......

Re: Is S&W missing out
If S&W felt that they were missing out I'm sure they would step up production. However, IMO I think it is artificially decreased supply to increase demand for their product. Kinda like how Disney puts movies in the vault. If S&W only produces enough for a trickle, then the people will want them that much more.
That or maybe they really can't keep up. Only S&W knows.Practicing free speech outside of the designated free speech zones.

Re: Is S&W missing out
My point is that it seems like other MP products are available but not the shield...
Yes I think Glock is also missing out...no single stack and no .22

Doesn't help that smith closes the factory for two weeks every summer.

I think Smith is also missing out on a M&P 22 conversion.... I can only hope Apex comes out with one this decade.

Re: Is S&W missing out
I agree that Glock is missing out. A full size .22 based on the model 17 would be golden for them. It would be the perfect trainer and a good entry level gun for the whole Glock platform. I know there are conversion kits, but one from the factory done in .22 from the ground up would be killer.
