Ranges Near Hanover
So I finally have a job and can afford membership and ammunition, so I'd like to finally get around to shooting. I know there are a couple around here, but they all seem like you can't get into them without a sponsoring member.
Is there anyone here who can recommend a range/gun club, near Hanover, with a pistol range, and is there also anyone who could sponsor me as a member for one?
Thanks in advance.1776 or 1984? - You decide.

Jefferson Sportsmen’s Association
Has a adopt a member program for people that don't know any members.
And they actually have two outdoor pistol ranges one behind the club house and another out by the rifle ranges.
Not a hard place to get into I went for an interview with my adopt a member sent in the check after he called and have never been to a club meeting.
Mostly because they hold club meetings on Thurs, and I am out of town.
Heres the link and good luck in your search.

Re: Ranges Near Hanover
The range closest to Hanover is probably York-Adams Game and Fish Association. I haven't been there recently, but the last newsletter said they were planning on adding a 12 yard target stand to the rifle range, don't know if they have or not. I stopped going because the way the range was set up I could only shoot handguns by standing partway down the range to get close to the target, so could only shoot when there wasn't anyone else using the range.

Re: Ranges Near Hanover
York Adams does now have a 7 yd target at the range. They have done a lot of improvements to the range there.

I'm in the same boat as you. If you find a decent place please do post. I drive to Hap Baker in MD which in turn really limits how much I go to the range.

Re: Ranges Near Hanover
I'm looking for a place to shoot as well. Right now I also trek down to MD to shoot at Hap Baker. Jefferson Sportsmen's Association looks promising, as does WSSA up in Lewisberry.

Another vote for JSA. Jefferson Sportsmen is the hidden jewel of southern York County. The ranges and grounds are as good as you will find anywhere. However make no mistake, JSA is a sportsmen's club and not a place where you go just to hear your gun go boom. All of the ranges have a 5 round max in the magazine.

Re: Ranges Near Hanover
I live about 5 min from that club, and was thinkng of joining there, but they have a 5rd limit on all firearms. Kind of a pain in the ass to only load mags with 5 rounds, but I might be able to get used to it.
