    Default Trading 1911s

A buddy of mine recently picked up a Springfield Mil Spec 1911. It's a real nice pistol, good fit and finish. I have a Remington 1911-R1 and I think I like the Springer better.

How much of a loss should I expect to take on a trade in?

Maybe I'll put it up in the for sale section but I might be to impatient for that.

I would do a private sale. You are likely to take a beating on a trade.

My friend recently picked up a lightly used one for around $600 I think.

That would be at the 1911 addiction rehab ward?

(The first step is admitting that you have a problem...)

This rimfire addict is trying very hard to ignore the recent revelation that there are some awfully nice .22LR 1911s out there, and we're talking a lot nicer than a 22/45. Must not look...must not look...must not look at a .35-cents-per-round 1911....must not....

To add to this, reload (for 45acp) using lead bullet heads. Much MUCH cheaper than FMJ. Since 45acp normal velocities are under 1k fps, leading is not generally an issue. Buy in bulk and you'll be amazed at the savings over buying factory ammo for plinking.

I've been told copper coated helps with leading, and some indoor ranges are beginning to require it.
