buying gun for fiancee

I'm buying a gun for my fiancee (wife in a couple weeks). If I understand this correctly, I could be the transferee if the gun is a gift for my "spouse". However, we won't be married yet at the time of the transfer. Would it be best to just have her be the transferee, or could I simply "give" it to her after the wedding. I'm assuming giving a gun you already own to your spouse doesn't require any paperwork or anything in PA...

I don't know, someone could probably see that as a straw purchase if they looked hard enough. I'd probably just wait until after the wedding to buy it just to be safe.

It's not a straw purchase. OP can buy the gun for himself or with the intention of gifting it later on. Either one is legal.

After you're married, just hand it to her. Before you are married, if she has a LTCF, she could take it for herself as a loan.

Give her the cash for the firearm before you go to the store then she can buy her gun on her own.

Just make her the transferee. You can buy it for her or give her the money to do it.

Now, it may look like a strawpurchase to an over-zealous dealer if you pay for it when she fills out the paperwork.

you can pay for it but do the paperwork in her name. When I bought my mom her gun thats how we did it.

I am buying a gun for my girlfriends father in Oct and my gun dealer told me it's fine to give a gun as a gift. The store is even going to do a free transfer for me. All i have to do is buy the gun the way i normally do then after he gets his gift we just go back to the store to transfer it!

Your GF's father can't take possession of the gun from you prior to FFL transfer unless he has a LTCF. Then you could "loan" it to him. It's fine to buy it with the intention to gift it to him, but he shouldn't take possession of it until the FFL transfers it to him unless he has a LTCF
