Default Needed: Firearms training course for senior citizen-Bethlehem area.

I have a relative in her early seventies that recently moved to the Bethlehem area. She is looking for a course nearby that will teach firearms safety, and concealed carry techniques. After she takes the course, can anyone recommend a good gun store for her? Much appreciated.

Honestly, none of the gun shops in the Lehigh Valley have ever impressed me. Generally there's limited selection and high prices on new guns. (I have seen a few decent used deals at C&D and Army Navy) I've heard good things about Boyer Hardware in Slatington, but it's a 30-40 minute drive from Bethlehem. If I feel like seeing and handling a wide variety of guns, I generally take the 40 minute drive out to Cabela's. (then order online and save a bunch of $) I generally used Gary's Guns in Nazareth for transfers. ($20)

    For training,

    For purchase,
Army Navy Whitehall. A few members are at the gun counter.

You can also visit www.magilltraining.com. I have a class coming up at the end of October and I do have experience teaching new shooters in the age group you mentioned.

Only based on my experiences when I have gone to Army and Navy, I tend to stay away from their gun counter. I have seen too many people carelessly handling firearms and on numerous occasions I have heard them stating as fact things that are blatantly wrong.

Like others have mentioned, there are not too many great gun stores around. I have found the folks at C&D guns in Bethlehem to be friendly, but their selection tends to be limited (but they can place orders for you).
