I have a glock 19 gen 3. I modified the hell out of it (3.5 trigger, tungeston recoil spring, extended slide lever, extended mag release, truglo tfo night sights) and it is an awesome self-defense and range gun. I have shot a glock 17 gen 4 and it's like shooting a .22 pistol. It's very accurate and feels great in the hands. The dual recoil spring eats most of the recoil.

Edit: Also remember there will always be holsters, custom parts, and accessories for glocks!

I carry a glock 19 gen4 with no mods and its my favorite range and carry gun. I carry 147 federal hst in it right now and im very pleased with it. I just picked up a gen4 23 from a fellow member and i have to say that the dual recoil springs on the gen4 glocks really tame the recoil. Have no worries, you made the right choice.

Try the M&P9 or 9c if you want to compare it to something different. They're pretty awesome.

3rd gen glock 19 carried ever day and also my home defense gun. Shoot gold dots and hydrashok plus any value fmj for the range flawless. Perfect handgun. Plenty of different night sights out there. Get some g17 mags and some 33 rounders to go with it and you got a gun you can depend on in pretty much any possible situation.

Many have called the P07 DUTY "The Glock 19 perfected".
    Just saying.

It's a solid choice. My Gen4 G17 is a blast to shoot. Accessories are abundant, spare parts are easily available and cheap as hell, and they're simple to work on. Just get the 19.

I think I've called it that myself.

(But holster selection still sucks, however many years later.)

why don't you want the glock? it would easier to give advise if you let us know why you don't want the glock and what you're looking for in another 9mm or 45?
