2012 Firearms Law & The Second Amendment Symposium

The 2012 NRA "Firearms Law & The Second Amendment Symposium" will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012, in Philadelphia, PA.

Focusing on recent developments in our nation's courts and legislatures regarding the Second Amendment, speakers will discuss and debate current Second Amendment scholarship and related issues. The symposium will feature top Second Amendment scholars and attorneys discussing topics that range from the history of the Second Amendment to current Second Amendment litigation in Pennsylvania and across the nation, to the nuts and bolts of legal practice in both defending and advancing gun owners' civil rights.

This event promises to present a thought-provoking discussion of one of the most relevant and important freedoms in the Bill of Rights. Each Symposium registrant will receive important information including panelists' written materials on their respective subjects- an excellent source for future reference. For guests who are attorneys, this year’s event may once again meet state requirements for continuing legal education. The event, including all materials, food and beverages, is free.

I tried to verify the CLE credit eligibility. The PA CLE Board has no record of the event, the NRA-ILA person in charge is away all week but I left a message.

Any attorneys who have verified the details, feel free to post or PM me. Sounds worthwhile with or without CLE credit, but I'd like to know the deal before I attend and look for attendance sheets.

I haven't confirmed for attending attorneys, but I have been asked to be a panelist and for panelists to receive CLE credit, written materials must be submitted. You may want to call and speak with Suzanne Anglewicz, as she appears to be arranging everything.

Sounds like it could be entertaining. Just saw this post about the case (pre-symposium tip: Philadelphia's "L & I" stands for "Licenses and Inspections", not "Labor and Industry"):

    http://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/gu...d--852954.html

You only have 30 days to appeal. Unfortunately, in Philadelphia, because they don't follow the law specified in Section 6109, instead of appealing to the Court of Common Pleas, you need to appeal to the Labor and Industry Review Board. I assume that you were denied under the nebulous character and reputation clause because there would be no other basis for denial of a summary conviction.

I currently have a case on appeal to the Commonwealth Court challenging the Constitutionality of that section of the code, since it can be arbitrarily and capriciously enforced. You need an attorney that is familiar with these proceedings, as your typical criminal defense attorney will be of no benefit. Depending on the basis for your denial (what your summary convictions are for), I have been successful in resolving these issues before the hearing is even scheduled by the L&I Review Board. My entire practice is firearms law.

I have more CLE than I can shake a stick out (CLE from 2012 courses is actually being "excessed" on the state CLE system) but it seems interesting.

Work emergencies notwithstanding, I will be there, CC'ing my Glock 19.

I signed up for this but didn't receive a confirmation email, just a confirmation page. Is that right?

Also, I'm looking for CLE also. I'm not hurting for credits, but it would help.
