    Default E-Series 1911 - thoughts before I order?

SW1911TA - I'm looking at this and seriously considering ordering it before the weekend. Full size E-Series Smith 1911 all stainless with the rail.

Any comments that could sway me to or not to before I dump a chunk of change that I might regret? I'm not educated on the 1911 platform - I owned a Colt Mark IV Series 80 a long long time ago but never got into the platform intimately and only had it for like 6 months because I got into an economic jam and had to sell everything. What is the good and bad of this external extractor - should it concern me?

Any last minute comments appreciated - especially if there's something in the price range that you would consider a better deal.

Drive to Classic Pistol in Southampton. They have three Dan Wesson Specialists in stock. They usually also have some S&W 1911s as well. They are about 300 (stainless) to 600 (duty treat) more. You might decide it's worth it to you. Then again, you might pass. Doesn't hurt to take a look this Saturday.

While I have only fired 8 rounds through one (it belonged to a friend of mine), I was quite impressed with it. The trigger was crisp and we were getting good groups with it at 15 yards. It is my next 1911 without a doubt.

There is a member on here that did a few videos on YouTube about the review of the same pistol. He said that he doesn't personall like the external extractor but it works fine. Just why fix something that ain't broke. But overall I think that they have gotten some really good reviews.

I have one and its one of the prettiest and finest mid level 1911 you can buy. Near Custom except for the match barrel it has almost every feature that a shooter would want and accurate. Its cheaper then most mid level 1911s in its class and is a great buy. Overall the DWA might be a better buy if they have the match barrels installed but they cost $1100 to $700 more pending which S&W or DWA you buy.

they look pretty, and ive came close to getting one not too long ago (ended up getting a colt)...they deciding factor against me getting the E series was all the lawyer speak engraved on it..

Appreciate the feedback everyone. I will look at the Dan Wesson when I get a chance. I do remember seeing a Valor bobtail once and it was a real beauty - forgot about them.

I was not aware of the engraving either - that sucks, but I wouldn't make it a total deal breaker for myself personally.
