Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

Hell, I started with a 25-20 with a peep. Still have it and use it at least once a year. I have shot multiple does with it with fine results. Rarely do I shoot any deer over 40 yards in PA. Lungs are where its at for these old calibers. I avoid hard bone.

    Good Luck.
And if you want to race, name the place and I'll show you where it's at mother f@#$&#!

I know this is an older thread, however I hunt deer with a 32-20 in a 1873 w/a 26" barrel. The rifle was made in 1882. I have my own bullet mold but I like to load 115 gr .313 Laser Cast behind 20gr Pyrodex RS (rifle shotgun). Laser cast is very accurate and the Pyro is quite clean burning. The Laser Cast are hard enough to pass through ribs or scapula. I'm comfortable scoring a nice kill shot out to 75 yards, which where I live is about the extent of the shot for any rifle. I've never had one go more then 25 yards before it was down. The thing I really like about the 32-20 is the lack of damage to eatable meat that modern ammo causes. This is one reason I'm so fond of early muzzleloader season and late flintlock season. During rifle season I go to my obsolete black powder cartridges. I'm not a trophy hunter and could care less about antlers. I hunt for the meat. The less damage I do to the meat the better. Good Luck Hunting Guys.
