Anybody own a Dan Wesson Pointman?
I've been casually looking for a target 1911 the last few weeks, and the DW Pointman looks to fit the bill. I've had range time with a Valor before that was excellent, but the Pointman already has the exact sights I want and comes in $350 under the Valor. Now I'm just trying to figure out why, and if it's the same quality as its big brother. Does anyone own / have any personal experience with a Pointman? Even a link to a review elsewhere would be helpful. Thanks!

Re: Anybody own a Dan Wesson Pointman?
I have a Pointman 7, lower left with the USMC emblems in the grips. It will shoot with anything on the picture and it had about the best factory trigger I've come across in recent years. I only adjusted the sights and went shooting.
This target was shot at 50 yards from a machine rest. The odd thing is that the loads that shoot real well in my Springfields are just OK in the Pointman. When I switched to VV N310, the Pointman really picked up. This group is just a little over 2.5" at 50. The small holes are .22 because, HEY, I am on a budget for targets and I wanted to get my money out of the paper! Hope this helps.

Re: Anybody own a Dan Wesson Pointman?
I don't have a pointman.....I have a Specialist, Guardian and Razorback.....I also had a Valor that I sold to fund a Springfield Pro. I have some experience with Dan Wessons.
All Dan Wessons have hand-fit slide and frame fits. They use EGW, Ed Brown, Grieder.....etc. parts.
This was a $1,200.00 pistol.......lol
This one....$1,450.00......lol
All machined fire control parts, all (except the 10mm) have been extremely reliable. Dan Wesson has never done 10mms well. It took some time to get it running reliably but they stood behind it. I am almost positive that Ed Brown makes the frames and slides but no-one will confirm it. I am convinced this small company that is a subsidiary of CZ USA is making the best bang for the buck in the 1911 market. Try one, you really can't go wrong.
Just my two cents.Last edited by Wilson Guy; August 23rd, 2012 at 08:59 PM.

Here is a review with a pretty good close up of the slide-frame fit and slide-frame blending....
Also a pretty good shot of the EGW barrel bushing/barrel fit.
