Which Ruger 22lr pistol?
I would like to get my 12 yr old a nice Ruger 22lr pistol to shoot with. Of course I would own it but it would be hers to shoot. Recommendations please.

Re: Which Ruger 22lr pistol?
Ruger is big into .22 handguns, which you probably already know.
SR22 as a plinker, comes with two grip sizes to accommodate different hand sizes.
22/45 Lite, lightest of the Mark III line.
LCR-22, but I don't know that I'd call it a beginner's gun.
Single-six, for the cowgirl in her, but a pretty long barrel for starting out.
SP101 .22, a real nice DA wheel gun but heavy for a beginner.
For a beginner, limited to Ruger, I'd buy the SR22 if it was my daughter (or the Lite, if it fit her). The SR22 adjustable grips alone make it more versitile. Later, buy a threaded barrel and a can and it's a toy for Dad.
My little girl is grown up so she's ready for the bigger stuff like a Mark III...now if I could just get her interested....Last edited by GonzoGeezer; August 22nd, 2012 at 05:57 PM.

Ruger MKIII 2245, 4inch bull bbl, 200rds. CCI mini-mag copper plated solid point, and 3+ hours at the range.
There ya go, complete package of fun.Government 99 and 44/100 % pure bullshit.

Re: Which Ruger 22lr pistol?
I have a Ruger MKII 4" bull. My 14 year old, 10 year old and my wife love it. I've found some good deals on used ones in the past few months that has made me think about picking up another. I've have mine for 25 years.

Re: Which Ruger 22lr pistol?
Thank you guys. Im leaning toward the MKIII. I think that it has a proven track record. I like SR22 but have been reading on here how they can be very picky on which ammo you use.

Re: Which Ruger 22lr pistol?
I would like to say I have an sr22 and I have 2,000 + down the pipe and only 2 failures. I would buy another in a heart beat. I say get her the sr it is small and very very well made and as far as being picky I only use wally world and it works well.

Thanks for the videos. Youre daughter(?) looks smaller than mine and she handles it well. I think my girl will do fine with that one.

Re: Which Ruger 22lr pistol?
Thanks Vin. You have not any problems except the two in that many rounds? Do you use the same ammo all the time or have you mixed it up a bit?

SR22 pistol. Cheap modern looking firearm.
Eats almost any brand ammo.
