Front sight removal ruger 10/22

I need my front sight removed on my ruger 10/22. I looked up a sight pusher tool and it is $60. A new sight is under ten bucks. Does anyone have experience doing this?

yeah, its called a BRASS PUNCH and a hammer.

this is easily done at home using a brass punch and a hammer, and a phonebook to rest the barrel on.

just tap the sight out of the dovetail. done.

you use a brass punch so you dont mark up the part you're punching

Keep in mind that it only comes out if you go left to right.

Also, I've encountered a few that if I "tapped" I'd still be tapping.

"Whacking enthusiastically" is not too strong a description for what's needed on some 10/22s.

I like to soak it in Kroil overnight before drifting, a little rust in the dovetail has a strong grip.
