PIC service for private sale - Where in Pgh?
I am selling a pistol to a friend. Where is a good place to do the required PIC stuff, either in Pgh or the Harmarville area? Thanks!

Re: PIC service for private sale - Where in Pgh?
actually, a lot of gun shops won't...or at least won't accept guns bought from out of state and do the FFL transfer for you. seems they want you to buy guns from them as opposed to helping you buy guns from someone else. the ones that will often charge way more than $20.
at least that was my experience when trying to find a gun shop around here to do an FFL transfer for me. i was very frustrated...
then i found Todd of gunrunnersofpa.com. (gunrunnersofpa here on pafoa.org).
he has a home based FFL in North Versailles (not too far from harmarville) that specializes in helping people buy guns via the internet. he is not trying to sell you a gun himself.
i bet he would be happy to help do the PICS stuff and other paperwork...and i'll be he will charge you $20.
also, he is a really great guy and a supporter of this forum and gun rights.
send him a PM.

Assuming you can get to him I would also highly recommend GUNRUNNERS OF PA. He's a member of this board and all around great guy:

I just checked out his web site (funny, yet to the point) and I will be scheduling an apointment as soon as I get times from the other party. Thanks for the tip. It is good to do business with another member of the forum.

+1 for GunRunners of PA. I have never used his service, but have heard from several who have, and they were very happy with the transaction. Next time I need an FFL from a private party, I'll give my business to him in a heartbeat.
Besides, with a name like "GunRunners" you just know you are supporting a true patriot.Last edited by LorDiego01; December 13th, 2006 at 12:24 AM.

a lot of the FFLs are nore reluctant, or charge more for "private transfers" now since the ATF says they have to officially log the gun into inventory, transfer it with PICs, then log it out to the new owner, whereas before they just did the handgun form, run PICs, all done.

its a little bit more work, and takes a bit longer is all.
I dont have issues with FFLs vharging $25 for a transfer...they DO have to pay employees, keep the lights on, and such"Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH
