Default would be robber shot by cabbie

a yellow cab driver shot a would be robber in the hill district part of Pittsburgh tonight. Police said that the crim pulled a gun and announced the robbery and the cabbie, without hesitation drew his weapon and shot the crim to death. What do you want to bet the yellow cab company fires this citizen.

The police spokes person said that the cabbie was properly licensed to poses a firearm...........why is it that cops seem to have no idea what the laws are regarding firearms in this state? Police regularly can be depended on to give incompetent firearms advice.

in any case congrats to the live cabbie!

It happened just before 8 p.m. Saturday on Somers Drive near Chauncey Drive.

Police say when the passenger attempted to rob the taxi driver, the driver pulled out a licensed gun and there was a struggle for the weapon.

According to authorities, the driver suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, while the passenger was killed.

"The passenger in the cab attempted to rob the cab driver and during the course of the robbery the driver, who was licensed to possess a firearm, pulled out a firearm and over the struggle with the gun, both the driver and the suspect, or passenger, were shot," said Commander Thomas Stangrecki, with the Pittsburgh Police. "The passenger has been pronounced deceased."

you know.....if they ever release the drivers name we should make a point of requesting him if any of us ever need a yellow cab. If they ask why we should explain pointedly why we want this guy!
