Carry Permit in Philly, How Long?

Are you listening to yourself? What would you expect us to do? Say no it's calendar days and throw a temper tantrum or maybe sit a corner until they give in? If all else fails I guess you could hold your breath.

Bad news gentleman, I just called the PPD GPU and asked about business days. I asked if Dec. 20-Jan. 3 counted as business days. She said "I wouldn't count it" right after telling me they spend that time catching up on applications. So counting that my 45 PPD business days would be March 1, 2013. Still plan on going in on 45 calendar days and asking about my status.

I was in there a couple days ago picking up my license and the woman i talked to said they count it towards the 45 days. Even though they are closed to the public they are there processing paper work.

By the way it took 70 days total and I just went down there, still haven't received my approval letter.

Seventy days is crazy. There are people who "know some one" and get it the same day. I'm going in on 45 Calendar days and asjking. Even a family friend who's a cop said seventy days is longer then normal.

Going by their business day bullshit it's how it worked out because of the holidays hopefully you get lucky. I wish I had the officers name who took my picture because she seemed to know that it's 45 days.

I've been waiting for about a month now.. I forgot the date which I applied but I remember estimating that I'd get it in mid February, or early march at the latest.

They told me it would take 45 days. I applied 11/29/12, my approval letter was dated 2/4/13. When I went to pick up my permit, they were still telling people 45 days. I guess it "kinda" works out if you only count business days.

I have a question of renewal... I noticed that other counties required a lot less documentation and hassel for renewal (no references etc), but philly appears to just have a different box to check with all the same requirements. Is this the case?

Luckily I have 2 years before mine expires and hope to move outside the city before then but figured i should know just in case.

Just a note - in reality it only takes an hour or so for them to do everything they need to do to issue your permit (bg checks, references, etc, paperwork for it, fingerprinting, and printing your ID).

As far as the statutes are concerned, the process for a renewal is identical in every way to the process for a new application. Any differences are put in place by the individual Sheriffs and may exist outside the law.

Not that they seem to be concerned about that.
