    Default Springfield XD

Are the Springfield XD's made in the U.S. They seem to get a lot of really good reviews and really need a good carry gun in 9mm. Right now Im using a VERY old smith and wesson chiefs special.

If you're looking for US-made, look at the Smith M&P9 and the Ruger SR9.

I've found them to be great shooters and reliable. Just because they are made somewhere else shouldn't be a big factor. Remember glocks are made in Austria.

i had the exact opposite experience...i had an XDM 9, and had many problems (failures to feed, eject, slide getting stuck, etc) with both factory ammo and reloads. I never even got to fire a full magazine through the gun...I ended up trading mine in on a sig 226.

Love my XD 40. Rare that I have any issues with it. Simple field strip and clean, good feel and sights as well. I wish the grips were a bit more aggressive, but that can be fixed with tallon grips. Go to a shop and dink with it for a bit, if they have a range shoot it. Rare are the folks who dislike the gun.

What are the triggers like on the XD? They're selling them pretty cheap on galleryofguns.com and my friend is going to buy his first handgun soon. He wants something for CC and range use. He's also on a tight budget, being a recent college graduate. Right now he's leaning towards the Ruger sr9c. Perfect size for range and concealment. I have the sr40c and never had any problems. The trigger is pretty good too.

XDm .40 here. Never any issue, eats every kind of ammo I feed it, including hollow points.
They do have adjustable grips, a simple, 3 thickness interchangeable back strap.
I looked at Glock, M&P, and S&W, I liked the XDm best.
