Default Maine permit for PA residents under 21

Can anyone fill me in on this? Someone mentioned it in an earlier thread I posted but didn't get any further info. I've been researching, but still don't understand the process. Do you apply for the non-resident permit and does it have to be applied for in person (warranting a trip to Maine) or can I handle it from here in PA?

Thanks guys! The hoops you have to jump through...

I'm from Maine and have a Maine non-residential permit. I never applied for one till I moved to PA since Maine was so nonrestrictive with firearms.

Here's the process I went through:
    1. Download the application from the .gov website and fill it out.
    2. Get some passport photos from a CVS or Walgreens.
    3. I used my Florida permit live fire training cert as my "live-fire" proof for the Maine permit. Submitted a copy with the application.
    4. Mail it out with a check and wait a few weeks for the permit to arrive at my door.

Easy, except if you don't have proof of training.

Wow, that's easy! Wish I'd known about this earlier. I guess all I need to do is find a class to take that offers certification, then? I don't know of any live fire pistol classes being held in my area (Chambersburg, Waynesboro, Gettysburg). I found this place http://events.r20.constantcontact.co...15vtvw42f96ad0, does anyone know anything about it or know of something cheaper/closer in time?

Thanks for the help! If I can get this figured out I'll take my brother with me to the class and he can apply as well.

MarDiv 2, I don't know what that is. Is that a permit or something I could use as a live fire certification? Thanks for the input.

Grey Wolf; Thanks for the link! I found that site early this morning and have been using it to try and find something. There is actually a class being held tomorrow in my area but it is also 100 bucks. I'm hoping to find something a little less cost prohibitive.

edit; I'm guessing this must be a live pistol course. What if I did a live fire class with another firearm, like a carbine or shotgun course?

Does Maine accept the PA Hunter safety course for training?

Or how about http://209.48.185.14/welcome.aspx?ts...0002673593750], run by the MD state police? It's a firearms safety course run by the state.
