need extractor for mk1 browning hi power
I replaced the recoil, firing pin, and hammer springs, and i'm still having issues with my BHP cycling reliably (though it's a bit better with the new springs, it still doesnt eject the spent casings sometimes. they either dont get pulled out of the chamber all the way or stovepipe when ejecting) the only thing left to replace that i can think of is the extractor. I have a MK1 with the internal extractor and was wondering if any of you knew where i could find a replacement for a decent price, they seem to be hard to find these days.

I would contact C&S and see if they have any or can point you in the right direction. I understand they are getting scarce

C&S? also, yeah i noticed they seem to be rather hard to find, and kind of expensive for a little metal rod with a hook on it. perhaps i'd have better luck finding a machine shop that could make me one? if anyone knows what kind of steel to use and has some sort of a diagram or whatever for making them

Decent price? No.
Available, yes.

The one you have may be salvageable if it is still in one piece.
The internal type extractor is its own spring and can be adjusted by bending.
They are much more fragile than 1911 extractors- I would bring it to a gunsmith before attempting to tension it yourself.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

they do have them, but for $80 plus shipping, about $90 total. that's ridiculously expensive for what it is, but since nobody else seems to be carrying them, i guess they can charge what they damn well please :|

Re: need extractor for mk1 browning hi power
I was told by a member over on the 1911 forum that he bought to internal extractors here:

Gentlemen,
I regret to inform you that I received an email from Peter Dawson, in which he told me that he is now sold out of the Hi-Power internal (old-type) extractors.
I hope that all of you squeezed in under the wire and got your orders filled.George,
