anybody carry a 1911?

I'm looking to get a Springfield Loaded (undecided on stainless vs. parkerized), and wanted to know if anyone else here carries a 1911 and any issues they might have.

I don't carry yet, as my G17 doesn't have a safety and my wife's nervous enough having it as our HD weapon as it is. She'd really prefer something with a safety. To me, this is simply a good reason to buy the Springfield I've been wanting.

The Colorado massacre really cemented the idea to me that carrying is a necessity, and my wife is good with it now too. You never know when or where something might happen.

Size of the gun isn't an issue for me, I'm large-framed. Carry my G17 at the range and around the house with no issue.

So thoughts on the gun and carry advice?

I carried a Colt Delta Elite for umpteen years and only recently switched to a G19. I still carry a fullsize 1911. 45 occasionally. Im looking for a Springfield TLE to put in the rotation

I carry a Rock Island Armory 1911, the tactical model. I love it. No problems. I like stainless guns, mine is parked and I have no problems with it. I just throw it in a bag covered in Breakfree CLP overnight once every few months... lol

I carry a Taurus 1911...nothing negative to report at all. Just get a good holster and practice, practice, practice.

I carry between my G19 and a kimber 1911 I prefer the kimber nothing negative to report about the 1911 as a carry gun. I wouldn't carry a gi model though I don't like the sites but the loaded SA should be good. I always carry a extra mag as well and I prefer a leather holster.

I have some advice, get a damn good holster. I have one of these I'm not using, and it is a fantastic piece of leather.

i carry a loaded with the park finish in a supertuck, very comfortable and the pak finish is very durable

I carry a full size Springfield 1911 in a Tommy Theis holster. I have no problems concealing it and it's comfortable, Tommy is a great guy to deal with. I switch between my 1911 and my lc9 to carry which I also have a Theis holster for.

Springfield GI for me. Been my carry piece for quite some time. Only thing I would suggest, don't go with the park. Mine is wearing off from the holster.

Personally, I love mine. Only ever carry anything else if I am going to be concealing.
