1911 slide stop lever is engaging by itself
I just bought an extended slide stop lever on my Kimber full size Eclipse. It dropped right in and seemed to function just fine until I took the pistol to the range. I was experiencing many failure to go into battery after successfully ejecting the previous casing just fine. I realized the slide stop lever was engaging itself during recoil. I was intentionally not hitting it up and about once per mag it would happen. I can ride my left thumb on top of it but then of course the slide wont lock back after my last shot. I am planning to start using this gun for tac shoots so I need it to be as reliable as possible but still would prefer the extended release. Any suggestions on what or where to file? Obviously I will compare it to the stock lever and go from there but any additional suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian

What is probably happening is that the nose of the round is making contact with the slide stop as it feeds up the magazine just before it is stripped and chambered. You might be able to verify this by looking at the slide stop to see if any copper marks are on it.

Could have been a slide stop from a 9mm/.38 Super/.40 S&W.
