    Question charter arms?

i was browsing cheaperthandirt and came across the charter arms undercover southpaw .38 special. i work with aluminum on a daily basis, but never really had the chance to sample aluminum one piece revolvers. first of all, does aluminum have a good track record when used for frame applications on pistols? secondly, can anyone recommend or denounce charter arms as a reputable manufacturer?

Charter Arms has been around for a while - I believe in and out of Chapter 11 at least once. I think they are good, solid revolvers and do carry a lifetime warranty. I have a .40 Pitbull and love it ! I don't think you have to worry about it as far as quality - if the price is right, go for it! Good luck!

I never owned a Charter Arms, went for Smith at the time. My brother and another person I was on the job with had 5 shot Undercovers and I shot both at the range. I was amazed at how well they shot accuracy wise vs. the Chief Special and Mod 60 I had. If I were to buy a 5 shot at this time (I'm now into semi autos) I would consider a Charter Arms.

Charter arms were started by a disgruntled Smith and Wesson Engineer, they make good guns especially the new Charter arms, i myself has an eye out for a .44 Bulldog.

To answer your question about Aluminum, yes Aluminum is a quite good material for making Guns, has been done for quite a long time , the German P-38 of 1938 comes to mind and of course the Smith and wesson model 39 Pistol etc.

If you work with aluminum daily then you know that some of the 70xx series can surpass many steels out there in strength .... but you're going to pay for it.

Gun Test had a write up on the Charter Arms .44 SPL that said they were good guns. They don't have the fit and finish of higher price guns, but you get a good gun.
The write up said they fit the hand nice and hide very well for a .44 SPL.

    I'm now thinking of one.
