Re: forced to disarm at Lehigh Valley Driver License Center
A letter with an Attorney's name on top would get their attention right quick.
There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Re: forced to disarm at Lehigh Valley Driver License Center
While were on the subject of state agencies in Lehigh county, the PA CareerLink office has signs posted about being under watch of the PSP and there are no weapons allowed. I didn't get a pic because I had left my phone in the car as I was there to take a Civil Service exam and I knew they don't allow phones in the exam room.

Re: forced to disarm at Lehigh Valley Driver License Center
Building owner is not the state and I believe the office is run by John Yuroconic an independent contractor. Although I don't know I'd bet the lease is in the contractor's name.
edit; I question the legality of PennDOT's lease if one of the stipulations of the lease is a ban on possession of firearms on premises, as that becomes a de facto preemption violation against people who need to utilize this PennDOT facility.Last edited by General Geoff; July 19th, 2012 at 06:17 PM.
Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.
Twice the mayhem, triple the force.
Ten times the action, total hardcore.

Re: forced to disarm at Lehigh Valley Driver License Center
The General's posts and my response was with respect to a state agency preemption or lack of it. IMO PennDOT may not be preempted.
The issue you raise is of a different ilk. In general, authority to create conditions of entry by a private party lessee is usually well established (subject to lease terms). When that lessee is performing a state function it's not as clear that they don't inherit some or all of the restrictions of the Government sponsor.IANAL
