Re: Is my rear sight off ?
I say it would make your shots impact to the left. Or you can look at it this way. You said your shots are striking to the left so it sounds like your sights need adjusted anyway.

Re: Is my rear sight off ?
Though the sight favors the left, the notch seams to be centered to me.
shoot safe, shoot straight, and have fun

If you haven't tapped it over yet, try shooting to the right dead center of bulls eye if it hits bulls eye or close it is shooting to the left. So tap it over just a bit.

Re: Is my rear sight off ?
The shot always goes in the direction the rear sight is moved to. Move the sight to the right, the shot goes right. It is the opposite with the front sight. Move it to the left and the shot goes right. Never adjust the front sight unless you run out of rear sight adjustment. What can happen is if a front sight is put on and it is not centered, the rear sight will have to be off to get a straight shot. If you are shooting left, then simply tap the rear sight to the right until you get your shots in the center. With different shooting styles, a rear sight may need to be a tic off to the left or right to compensate for the style of shooting (basically the way you hold the gun and your trigger finger when you pull the trigger. Another thing is the sights may be perfectly lined up and your shooting style perfectly matches the sights, but the shot hits left or right. There could be a number of things that cause this such as a frame rail that has a burr in it, barrel is locking up a little off center, and so on. Thing to do is try adjusting the rear sight until you are on center of the target. If the rear sight is not centered and it bothers you, you can adjust the front sight so the rear stays centered. If the front sight is non adjustable, you will either have to live with an off center rear sight or try to adjust your grip, making sure your are not flinching or jerking the trigger, at all, so that your shot goes center mast. I personally don't own a hand gun that has a perfectly centered rear sight, but I don't let that bother me when I hit the x.
since you have a Glock, your front sight in non adjustable.Last edited by harold63; July 18th, 2012 at 07:25 PM.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Sometimes guns don't shoot to center and you have to move the sights to adjust.
Are you hitting what you're aiming at?
