    Default Ithaca 1911

Have one, opinions, pros and cons? I'd like to add another 1911 to my collection. I was looking around online at Kimber, Wesson, Baer, Gunsite etc. For no reason in particular decided to do a search for Ithaca 1911s. I didn't realize they were making them. I thought at best I would come across a collector piece.

Sheesh, I didn't even know Ithaca was back in business!

I though you were going to be talking about a WWII era military piece!

I don't know if you can order one or not. Bottom of the page says 2007 and the online store doesn't list them

    Same here.

Glad to see they're back online punching out 1911s.

Some photos in their gallery elsewhere on their site, and these are dated 2011:

They look sharp. I wonder if they are good shooters. I love the 1911 but have to admit I don't know a lot. There's just something that appeals to me as an American made, the Ithaca name type thing. Not something you see everyday.

@ PA Rifleman, is that yours?

I went over to the 1911 forum and there was a decent review from a guy that picked one up. From what I got from it on part with a Les Baer . He paid 16 something for it. Pretty decent shooting as well. More than decent to me. I might be saving for one of these. A Kimber tle is less money and I like those too. Decisions

It may be a good 1911 but that $1,799 MSRP puts it out of my price range.

Now, that picture shows an almost ideal M1911 series pistol. The only real improvement it needs is better sights and it's ready for another hundred years of military service!
