Glock 36 vs compact 1911 size and weight comparison questions
Ignoring reliability for the sake of keeping this question from getting off topic. How does a 3.5" 1911 7+1 compare to a standard glock 36 in regards to size and weight for ccw considerations?
I'm considering a commander size just to have a .45 in the ccw rotation and have always considered them to be classy. Nothing wrong with the g36. Just looking for some real life experiences. I have compared one to my g26 and besides the extended beavertail they were roughly the same dimensions. The commander is heavier but I would guess the g36 is heartier too.

Re: Glock 36 vs compact 1911 size and weight comparison questions
Never having used a Glock for anything other than having a misguided friend try to show that 'they are indeed real guns', I'd have to say stick with the 'man's gun'.
It cannot be stated often enough apparently: Tupperware belongs in the fridge, not on the range!

Which is better: apples or oranges?
......in all honesty, shoot both and see which one you like better. Both guns are probably very reliable and conceal very well. Either way, just find a comfortable holster and you should be fine. I heard of 1911s being picky with certain types of ammo, but if your 1911 will eat anything, then it doesn't really matter. Federal EFMJs expand very well and should cycle fine in a 1911.

Re: Glock 36 vs compact 1911 size and weight comparison questions
My Glock 19 or 23 is lighter then my steel Colt Commander. The commnader in CC holds 9-8 45 acp rounds the G19 holds 16 and the G23 holds 14. Both print near the same the Colts a little thinner. Ease of shooting wise its a toss up.
IMHO CC carry wise the G19 wins on the range the Colt wins.
Either of the 3 could do the job.

Re: Glock 36 vs compact 1911 size and weight comparison questions
If the gun is to be carried for personal security dont bet your life on flipping a coin, go with the Glock, the 1911 because of its obsolete archaic design can never be as reliable as a Glock no matter who makes it, and i'm not bashing the 1911 as i do own 5 of them , and do carry them occasionally , but for to hell and back reliability and durability you just cant beat a Glock auto-pistol.
If its a range toy then go ahead and flip a coin.
