Default Getting my Florida permit. Instructor told me that I still need a PA permit (?)

I went to the Florida permit class at Classic Pistol this past Saturday. I'm all set as soon as I send off the check and fingerprint card/photos.

One thing that I was wondering....

The instructor at the class said that a Florida permit does not count in PA if you are a PA resident.

My question is this: As a resident of PA, if I were pulled over by the police and had only a Florida permit, should I expect to be arrested?

    Short answer..............NO

Note: It has come to the attention of the Office of Attorney General that there has been confusion over the applicability of Pennsylvania's reciprocal privileges with regard to the residency status of an individual who has been issued a valid license/permit. It is the position of the Office of Attorney General that recognition within Pennsylvania is based on the issuance to an individual of a valid license/permit by the reciprocal contracting state, and not on the license/permit holder's place of residence.

I have a letter from Commissioner Miller of the PSP that confirms a valid FL permit held by anyone resident or not is legitimate.

I agree with what has already been stated to address the question but my suggestion to MorganB would be to go ahead and get your PA license whan you can do so. I does not cost much and is not that big of a hassle. Getting the PA permit might just save you some difficulties.

    Good luck.
