Interested in home protection
I have shot rifles, shotguns, and hand guns but by no means an expert. Interested in a good used 9mm or .38, full-size weapon for home protection purposes. Possibly with laser sight. Any suggestions?

Re: Interested in home protection
If you dont want to spend a lot of money but still get a great full size 9mm my recommendation is a Ruger P95. I have one it is my favorite 9mm tough as nails ,reliable and affordable. Others will be along with many other suggestions. Good luck.

Re: Interested in home protection
I agree with the above post I do armed security services and one of my duty weapons is a P95 great gun built like a tank has rail for flashlight and laser
Other choice is police trade in smith service revolvers model 64 I think it is 4 inch
But of course a nice short shotgun might be bestHave you called, faxed, or emailed your reps today!!!

Re: Interested in home protection
Agreed... probably will go the route as well. Know where I can get a good deal on either or both?

Can't go wrong with the Ruger. Buddy just bought one as his first pistol - inexpensive and built like a tank. Also, a lot of police traded S&W autos around for 319-389 - great guns - I got a 6906 and love it.

Re: Interested in home protection
Chalk up another one for the P95. I switched from the P94 (.40) to the P95 as my everyday carry and don't plan on switching up anytime soon.
If you go the P95 route, make sure you really get used to shooting it and get your grip right. My brother and I both have identical P95's and we couldn't figure out why his would stovepipe or have feeding issues. It would shoot fine for me but give him problems. Eventually we figured out he was limp wristing it, he firmed up his grip and all was corrected."The Earth is for the living." -Thomas Jefferson

Look at the Smith&Wesson Model 10. you get a lot of "bang" for the buck.
