It depends on your needs/wants... If you want something effective for personal defense, and lighter to carry, the Smith wins. On the other hand, any trigger time is important and good, and .22 is cheap to shoot, so if self defense isn't the main concern, I'd go with the .22 Ruger.

    my 2 cents.

I know you said that you can't get both, but have you considered trading your 27 for the S&W and then buying the .22?

If I had to choose between the two, I would go with the .22 because it is so much cheaper to shoot and you already have an effective self-defense handgun. However, this is just my .02.

I'd go for the Ruger. You can have fun all day long chasing cans around with a .22. The 442 is a perfectly nice gun, but it will wear you out in a short time.

I have both; they are fine guns.

If you go with the ruger Mk, be patient in the field strip process. If you are fortunate in mechanical inclination, you should not have a problem. If not, I would suggest you download a you tube video on the subject.

I would go with the Mark 22lr. As stated the hours of fun you can have for a low cost cannot be beat. It also gives you a much larger amount of practice.

Get the Mark and then save for the snuby.
