I have always been a big believer in the point made regarding ammunition availability during catastrophic events. I own two pistols. .45ACP and 9mm. I know that no matter what the circumstances are, I'll be able to snag plenty of lead wherever I evacuate my family to. Same goes for my rifles, a 30-06 and .223. If you find significant ammo caches somewhere, you are guaranteed to find one of these four cartridges.

This is the most salient and helpful article I have read anywhere on pistol selection... makes me lean toward the Glock 19 more heavily... thanks.

I agree!!! But I would rather have a couple extra rounds in my pistol because most likely, if I ever use a firearm in self-defense. Shots may not go exactly where I wanted them too. When the bad guy is shooting back, it makes it a bit harder to concentrate on getting that first shot right on target. So, just in case my "shot placement" isn't up to par. I want to have about another 12 or 13 rounds in the gun, that can't be a bad thing.

Low light, multiple attackers, failure to stop instantly.....

Hitting the CNS isn't an easy task in the first place. Doing it in low light makes it harder, doing it while either yourself or the target is moving makes it even more difficult, and doing it while getting shot at makes it SIGNIFICANTLY harder on top of that.

Carrying a 5 shot gun ain't for me.

And here I had just come to the decision to replace my 10+1 .40 caliber ccw with a 6+1 .45 caliber ccw. Love this article even though it has put me back at square one. Thanks guys.
