Question about LTCF
So i recently moved to Pennsylvania From Massachusetts, I've been looking at applying for a LTCF. The application for Cumberland County says I need two reference that live in Cumberland County and that I've know for at least a year. I have two people I can put for a reference one is my girl friend who i live with and the other is my coworker that i work 40 hrs a week with. The problem is that I haven't know my co worker for over a year. I was wondering if that is going to be an issue. I have no issues on my record that would prompt failing a background check.
I know it may look strange to the Sheriff that I want to get one now that I'm new to the state. But that is mainly because I lived in a state that the local police chief could deny you license and not give a reason or put a lot of restriction on your license. It just so happened that the city I lived in had a police chief that would deny most people that walked in the door. And would pass some with restriction that didn't seem to make sense.

Re: Question about LTCF
Your Sheriff has no authority to demand the references come from his county or anywhere else. The ONLY restriction on the application for references is. "Not Family Members".
Your references can be from Delaware county, Chester county, Texas, Alaska or Germany
The UFA designated that the state police create the application form which is to be standard throughout the state.
Your Sheriff has no authority to add conditions or alter that application.
PA is also SHALL ISSUE. He can't deny you for that and a certified reason must be supplied if he does

Re: Question about LTCF
You don't need to know someone for any period of time. Co worker is fine
Unless you're dating your sister... Your gf is fine too
What do you mean "back of page"?
The LTCF application is only ONE PAGE. Any additional pages or forms are not legal
It is also illegal for the Sherff to disclose to the public that you are applying for a license.
That information is to be kept confidentialLast edited by BimmerJon; July 5th, 2012 at 10:21 PM.

Re: Question about LTCF
Not that I'm advocating giving in to "the man", but how long 'til you've been here one year? And is there there anyone that you are not thinking of that might count? What brought you here? Any work contacts that you aren't thinking of?

Re: Question about LTCF
In the mean time. If you have your PADL, go buy a gun and marvel at how much easier it is than in MA (or NJ where I came from)

Re: Question about LTCF
The application says to bring both pages....only one page is that application the other page listed is a list of the laws/crimes that would disqualify you from being approved. So the application is only one page. Also everything i read is that its a pretty easy process but I know my luck.
But anything is better then the laws back in Mass. For PA is more free then where I came.from so thanks for the welcome.
