    Default Gun Safety Seminar

    http://citizensvoice.com/news/crime-...inar-1.1339157

I could only imagine the amount of FAIL that will take place at this . . .

Crime watch to hold gun safety seminar

The Wilkes-Barre Crime Watch Coalition is targeting current and prospective gun owners for a gun safety seminar next Wednesday.

Topics at the program, to be held at the Luzerne County Emergency Management Building, will include safety, gun laws and proper firearms-handling techniques.

"People are buying weapons to protect themselves, and that's not a bad thing," Crime Watch president Charlotte Raup said. "We're worried about safety, because so many times you're trying to protect the ones you end up hurting."

Randy Shaw, a firearms instructor at Luzerne County Community College and former police officer, is scheduled to speak at the seminar

"It's astonishing the number of pistol permits issued here," Shaw said. "It leads me to believe most people with guns don't have proper training."

Shaw said gun owners need to have training in the same sense that drivers go through extensive training with a permit before being rewarded a license.

According to Wilkes-Barre police, less than one percent all crime in the city in the first six months of 2012 was weapon related. However, it is difficult to quantify the additional, less obvious gun crimes, such as theft of a firearm, which Shaw said will be one of the "main points" he stresses to the attendees.

The last seminar run by the Crime Watch Coalition educated landlords on how to conduct background checks on tenants. Raup said the turnout was so overwhelming they had to split the seminar into two sessions on separate days.

Organizers said previous gun safety seminars have generated "full" audiences - filling up the room with 80 to 100 people, and expect this program to follow suit.

I am currently working 2nd shift. I am hoping a few of the people who post here can attend. then report back how it went. It would also be great if they could print out some of the OC flyers to hand out.

I went to their webiste http://www.wbcrimewatch.org/ and under their policies they state this:

NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND will be carried while on patrol. This also applies to persons who may have a concealed weapon permit from the Luzerne County Sheriff's Office.

and the article in the Citizens voice says:

Randy Shaw, a firearms instructor at Luzerne County Community College and former police officer, is scheduled to speak at the seminar

"It's astonishing the number of pistol permits issued here," Shaw said. "It leads me to believe most people with guns don't have proper training."

I would go but I dont think im allowed I live in Lackawanna County . . .

Personally id love to hear what they have to say about open carry . . . .

Like I said originally I think this entire thing will be full of FAILURE . . . LOL
