H&K P30L in 40 S&W - Any owners out there?
I have a USP 40 that I bought back in the mid 1990's and I really like it but I have been thinking about getting the P30L in 40 caliber. I just wanted to know if anyone out there has one and how they like it.
I am not interested in any other alternatives, so please don't tell me to get a Glock or whatever else is out there this question is only about the H&K P30L.

What are you going to be using it for...?....I have a p-30 LEM trigger, chambered in 9mm. Fantastic gun!..I had a p-30L in 9 and I sold it. I wanted it for carry and I like the p-30 better than the L series. Can't beat HK though. They are off the leash! I have a p-30 9mm lem...an HK 45c lem...and a p2000sk lem in 40sw. All do any ammo I feed them and are more than combat accurate. I don't see any difference in shooting the half inch L series gives you over the regular p-30. Just my 2 cents.......

I will probably just shoot it at the range. I doubt if it will be a carry gun so I was thinking that the longer barrel may have an edge. Thanks for the info. I figured it would be supremely reliable after my previous experience with H&K firearms.

I have a P30L but in 9mm it is by far my favorite pistol in the world. Nothing even comes close to how it feels in my hands. I also shoot it better than I have ever shot any pistol. I never shot a regular sized P30 so I cant say there. But I love my L. I own 2 USP's and love both of them but the P30L is much better IMO. Another reason to go with the L is it is closer to the size of a Full sized USP. So If you liked that platform it will be closer to what you have. Here are some phone pics.

I looked at this pistol more than an addict looks at porn. I kick myself sometimes because I chose the USP over the P30L. Had I not had a butt load of Taurus 24/7 Pro and 800 series handguns, already (they are a close second to the P30/P30L as far as feeling good in the hand), I would have chosen the P30. I figured I could live with the USP grip (ho hum) to get the other features I wanted in that handgun.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

My P30LS Variant 1 (light LEM) in .40 S&W is my EDC. It is also in the top three of the best handguns I've owned over the last 40+ years which covers a LOT of weapons.

Thanks for the opinions and information on the P30L. I am pretty sure that I will have to get one.

Well I went to the dealer and tried one on for size and it just did not work. I really like everything about it except that I have pretty big mitts and my fingers don't feel good below the fingerguard. It did not present a comfortable grip so I passed on it. I ended up getting the new SA XDM comp model with the 5.5" barrel and adjustable sights. I ran a few hundred rounds through it at the range and it di dvery well. I am happy with it and it was a couple of hundred bucks less, not that cost was a consideration.
