    Default Indoor Range-Dauphin County

    Good Evening,

So after being out of state due to military training, and being able to shoot at any time I would like, I have realized that there are no true "public" indoor shooting ranges in central PA. I would like to know if there would be any interest in an indoor range being built in a convenient location in Dauphin County. All other ranges you must be a member to the club and/or obtain a membership through a current member. Please give feedback!

    Thank you

There used to be one, Danny's on 322 but it closed. I was talking to the guy at Force Training Gun Shop in Palmyra about this, and he pointed out how the insurance alone would most likely be a prohibitory issue. 'The Liability would be a killer'

To install a no-frills indoor range, you can expect $500,000, for just the ventilation ($250k minimum), backstop, stalls, and target carriers. With regards to filters, you will likely have 10-12 pre-filters, which if you buy in bulk, you can get for around $2 a piece, and will have to change them daily. The second set of pre-filters (again usually somewhere between 10-12), which if you buy in bulk you can get for around $4 a piece, and will have to change them every week or other week. The last set of filters, your HEPPA, will cost around $25 a piece, and you will have betwen 8 and 12 of them, and they will need to be changed monthly. After all of this, you have to deal with OSHA and ensure that you have policies and procedures in effect in every regard. Most people complain about paying $12-15 an hour to shoot indoors but have no idea as to the cost to build and upkeep requirements of an indoor range. Each OSHA violation is likely going to cost you $4200 and they can come up with some really interesting violations.....http://blog.princelaw.com/2012/06/25...ttack-by-osha/
