    Default New AR question

I just bought a S&W AR-15 Sport. I know this is a rookie question, but am I able to swap the upper receiver with any brand (DPMS, S&W) .22 caliber?

It's currently a .223, but would want to swap uppers, if possible, for when the wife shoots?

Let me know. I apologize because I know to the vets, it's a dumb *** question. Thanks, I appreciate your help.

ys you can put any short action upper on it, even cheaper would be a cmmg .22 lr conversion kit. its a new bolt, carrier and mags that fit in your existing upper and being .223 is damn close to size with a .22 your existing barrel will work too although accuracy will be slighly less but honestly not enough to worry about for plinking. best part, the whole shebang runs around $150 or so, so it should pay for itself with 1-2 bricks of decent .22lr over .223 or 5.56.
    have fun.
